    2. A creative, zany adventure awaits middle grade readers in The Brain Sucker by Glenn Wood.Callum McCullock is a disabled boy living with his grandmother, Rose When demented scientist Lester Smythe s plot to eradicate goodness from the world puts Rose in danger, Callum and his good friends, Sophie and Jinx, band together to defeat his evil plan. There is so much to enjoy in this novel the well developed characters, the neat inventions, the antics of Lester s bumbling thugs, the craziness caused by [...]

    3. A middle grade book for all ages, Wood takes us on an adventure of a boy, who maybe dependent on his wheel chair for transport but hasn t let that stop him and a girl who has quite a gift for exploding engineering concepts. The characters are well rounded and likeable, making this a book for both boys and girls, challenging stereotypes and providing us with unlikely heroes They are written in a way that the reader s imagination can take hold of the story and this makes it visually appealing as we [...]

    4. Sometimes creepy, sometimes funny, but a good action packed read for intermediate aged boys The intrepid trio of Callum, Sophie and Jinx make an inspiring team and I d like to see them featured in another book More comments in my blog on my Author Page

    5. I really enjoyed this book and recommend to readers 9 Strong kid characters, what was especially refreshing about it was that the hero is a boy in a wheelchair Very empowering for disabled kids, about how he tries to be independent as much as possible.

    6. Callum McCullock has the coolest wheelchair you could hope for The Thunderkit X5 All Terrain has a 5 wheel set up, nitrogen gas shock absorbers and a retractable wheel design for uphill and downhill work And it looks cool.Callum was born with a spine defect His legs make his jeans look good, as he s quick to point out, but they re useless for anything else But Callum is no victim In fact, he s so fiercely independent, both his best friends, Sophie and the permanently bad luck challenged Jinx Pat [...]

    7. Probably 3.5 s a novel idea and allows the author to insert scientific and pseudo scientific principles , and some fun as well as threats it felt a bit forced and I skipped to the end Children might like it better.

    8. This children s book is about a wheelchair bound boy and his two friends who take on the evil man who is sucking the goodness out of children s brains It has plenty of action, and some nice messages about friendship Lots of fun.

    9. Super fun to read with a quirky sense of humour throughout And much than that loveable, refreshingly unconventional characters with equally strong ideals I recommend this to kids 9 12, and can t wait to read the sequel

    10. A must read for 7 12 s Fabulous fun, and the age old but freshly done battle between good and evil Loved it
